Get your girlfriend into FPSs!

Let me start this off as saying this is not a sexist thread blah blah, seriously, i really doubt girls have trouble getting their bfs into FPS or gaming in general, but if you do, im sure we can help you with that easily ladies.

So my girlfriend has always been into games, but never FPS, and now I think I got her hooked =)

First get your GF to play Wii or Guitar hero something that is simple, can be challenging and above all else is quite fun and addicting, or if there is a game that has some kind of interest that they are into have them play that, sims is also a good game.

now of course she has to either have a nice computer for whatever reason, or you might have to pick her up a video card.

for my girlfriend she was into games enough and after showing her bioshock trailers she got really into it, and got herself a cheap $100 video card.

she tore through bioshock on easy, and loved the big daddys and little sisters, plus the environment is really nice.

then i bought portal and she thought it was super cool, and loved companion cube (who doesn't?!)

then... TF2, at first she said it looked stupid and cartoony, then i showed her some more videos, then I had her watch me play a little bit, and she was like "that looks pretty fun" well now lets just say she has a steam ID and we were playing together in a server the other night.

maybe you just need to have a cool gf, but if you put love and effort into it im sure you can get your own gf into games, fps in general.

the trick is to find games that look appealing and have an easy mode. like bioshock she loved the environment and story so it kept her playing, she also fought against ai and didnt have to worry about an online competitive setting. this means she learns at her own pace. then a game like portal helps with problem solving and looking at things in a different light as well as boosting hand eye coordination.
then TF2 is perfect because there aren't much tactics, you spawn always have other players with you which helps, and its very balanced and straight forward with identical teams on both sides.

with TF2 there is no "this unit has a different weapon/ability if im on this team"

next step is to get her into PR, which will prove to be a challenge since you can't just hop into the game and into the action, and there is so much to learn, but hopefully i can get her into it. also i don't know many girls that are "tactical" or into RTS or realism for that matter. but we shall see.

Well, I keep telling her that I'll teach her PR, but I never get around to it. I should call her, load up PR:SP, and just train the crap out of her.

I'll fill you in in a week with any progress.

I met my GF on a lan party ^^ So I diden't need to do anything she was already in to FPS
