CoD4 Multiplayer

I haven't had a chance to go through the other CoD4 threads, but I only wanted to discuss multiplayer in this thread.

How do you think it will compare to single player? I played through the demo last night, and was totally blown away by not just how it looked, but the fact that you could breath to steady your sniper rifle, how amazing the iron sights looked, and how real the guns FEEL, I really feel like I'm firing, the blurs from bullets and just everything is really good, I haven't felt this immersed in a game since the first time I played CoD1.

I wasnt that impressed by the sp demo, Im hoping for a MP demo though (they usually release MP demos dont they) to see what it's really like.
Enginewise it's looking good, good for mods! although some of it felt a bit 'arcady' to me

I know what you are talking about Riki really nice feeling when you shoot the guns!

I think the multiplayer will be ranked, you unlock new sights for your weapons etc. You are also going to have perks, every player can have 3 perks they are stuff like when you die you got a last stand so you are down but can still fire your pistol so you can take down one last enemy. Or you can have a perk so that you can reload your weapon faster.

I also think you will make "soldiers" on your profile, so you can custom make your sniper soldier, you can pick what rifle and perks you want etc.

No

MP will probably be just like other CoD games, small and spastic with a healthy dose of camp.

yeah i don't know what to expect from MP, but i know it wont be team oriented at all.

i thought the game felt pretty realistic, 2-3 shots to take down a guy, there was weapon sway on snipers and you breathed to steady, it only takes 2-3 shots to kill you, and plus using the javelin just feels so damned cool!

some things i didn't like were
-only mounted guns i saw were M249s, which doesn't make sense
-they could of done the health system better, like getting shot in a certain place affects you a certain way
-magazine count instead of bullet count

I think their "take a breather return to 100% health" system is on the brink of being genius, but comes short, THIS is how it should be done.

You have a picture of your guy on the bottom of the screen.
You have body armor on, now when you take hits to the chest area it does the whole "tunnel vision rest for a moment to get back" 3 shots knock your guy on his ass
shots to your arms and legs affect you as in messing up your aim or making you limp, to remedy this you need to call a medic who heals you.
your body armor would have "health" meaning it can only take number of shots before it needs to be replaced (if you really wanted to get technical it would be cool to have your character replace the plates in the armor to give it "health" back)
-lets also say head shots knock you on your ass with a 10-25% chance for instant death (simulating getting shot in the helmet)

they would then have the best health system ever!

Well, one thing is for sure in CoD4 MP:
The BF2 stat whores will be back for vengeance...
I really hope the MP is going to be good and not bad, as in BF2 MP bad...

The Beta on 360 was hella-fun. Extremely fast paced with your unique loadouts, giving a different style of play everytime. The maps were beautiful, too.

Last Stand is definitely an interesting perk - being able to drop your killer before you go down is always fun. Dropping with a 1911 and managing to kill 3 enemies before succumbing to your wounds is always a bonus too.

My preferred perk loadout (bearing in mind the beta loadouts were limited) was Deep Impact (shoot through walls) with Extra Damage, and an RPG for extra awesomeness.

Did you play COD2? The guns probably feel similar. Certainly the sniper rifle has the same breath thing.

Hey now, BF2 MP was good and fun. Then after a while it got boring like everything else. Then PR came and gave it a new breath of life. And now is the standard everyone here judges stuff by haha.

But I think we judge stuff too harshly. I don't think many FPS games come out with the intent of reality, so we can't really judge it by saying it has an "acadey" feel. Unless of course, they state that they took realism to a T.

Also, the "take a breather" idea is kinda based off CoD2 where they used it as it is used in PR, for the player to be like "oh crapperjacks!" and take cover. And from other CoD games and the sort, the game will be team-oriented in certain game modes and clan-related stuff. Hell, after play PR, I don't think vBF2 is team-oriented anymore, although at the time it seemed so much so.

I played Call of Duty as part of semi-professional team. I hope CoD4 carries on the same feel and enjoyment. MP was where it was at.
