Blood
http://www.blood.co.uk/
I was wondering, do serving soldiers have to give blood? I am going to give blood this week and I am curious. ![]() |

You don't REQUIRE you to give blood, but you can if you want. But, they do have to take blood when you enlist and if you need it for medical reasons though.

So they ship blood from England? Nice to know that some of it might be used on our soldiers.
Thank you. I am not too comfortable around needles, but I am facing my fears and trying to do something good while at it. I wasn't sure if giving blood was required by all serving soldiers, I guess you don't want to send men in to the field who has just been giving up a pint of blood. |

Natala, other than a medic taking your bloods during your enlistment medical, you don't give blood. Unless you want to that is, via the mobile Blood Donation Units that go around various places.
Regarding RAMC Medics, field hospitals etc, the blood is shipped into theatre from the UK for health and safety reasons. If you give blood, you save lives. Thanks to those who do. |

I have to find out when I can give blood. I've been denied because apparently there was an outbreak of madcow or something similar in my home country around the time I lived there. I guess I have to wait until the disease would have killed me before I can donate anything. Woot for the Republic of Moldova!

I tried to give blood once but was told my veins were to small lol. Which I'm inclined to agree with, my veins go really small when I'm cold and they were doing it in an absoltely freezing room, I should take a dumb bell and do some curls before I give blood next time lol. I have a rare blood tpye, dont know what it is like but I know its rare.
