OMG, i used to be sooo good at this game. I uninstalled it cos of my final exams and re- installed it 2 days ago after a year of not playing....earlier today i managed to get 2 kills with my favourite plane (LA7 3xB20) and land - 200 points -yeah!.. The only whack thing is that its IL-2 1946 and that is somehow not supported by X-Fire.
I use Hyperlobby instead - starting the game from x-fire just gives me the timeout problem. I fly with the 4.09m patch and have currently no mods installed - although i recommend the Cocpits and Gunners Mod from AAA cos u can then fly a lot of AI planes (B17, B29). Feel free to add me on x-fire if you are not an immature smacktard (xfire name = Azametric ). Funnily enough most ppl who play the il2 series and stick at it are actually fairly sound. Words like noobs and pwenage are very seldom and people salute eachother after a good dogfight instead of dissing. |

Holy thread revival!
I'm stuck can anyone help me? I've been playing through the Japanese Dynamic Campaign since Iwo Jima & I'm now at the Homelands (Having been wounded at Iwo Jima and Heavily wounded at Okinawa). However: The P-51 Fighters and the B-59 Bombers far outclass my ickle Ki-84, they can go up alot higher (and do, about 8,000m when my kite struggles to get to 6,000m) & they're much, much faster than me, I'll pull up behind one & open up only for it to zoom off - and that's on the rare occasions when I could catch up. Against Corsairs & Hellcats I did pretty well (got 26 Kills!) but I just can't shoot these new guys down Any tips? |

You can turn much better than them. Either get in a straight angles fight if you start with Co-E or if they bounce you try and time a scissors right so you get that snap shot.

Yeah but the problem is getting close to them in the first place - before the dog fight starts they're so high we can't even engage then when they do we take heavy casualties then they run off :/

Is this game fun and playable without a joystick? Thinking about buying it as it's just so cheap. About 8$ on gamersgate for Il-2 Sturmovik: 1946.

Playable without joystick cus I used to do it, but in the end you need one because you analog control of the airelons or whatever they're called, otherwise you just stall when you need to turn in a dogfight.
