Well if anyone does have a free gift of HL2 that would be very nice.

Just go and buy the damn game if only from an educational point of view - it is arguably the best FPS ever made. Who knows, you might even enjoy it

Maybe im spoiled or maybe i bought it to late(a month or 2 ago) but HL2 seemed so normal to me. Was a very cool game and fun to play but it just wasnt all that.

[R-DEV]DuneHunter - No offense to any female gamers, but never, ever underestimate the amount of havoc a woman can unleash upon innocent unsuspecting electronics.

The sad thing, this is probably going to be taken over by run and gun people :/ Look at insurgency for instance. I Just hope that doesn't happen because the mod looks awesome.

yeah, thats true =/ Ins looked to be THE realistic game... and it is, the problem are the players! But I'm hopping for something special for this mod.

[R-DEV]Rhino:"I in fact got kicked from a server for tking."
Hitperson:"well done, treasure it forever."

I strongly suggest you get the orange box. Its a paltry £26, and for all of those games... its insane.

Half-Life 2 is one of the best games ever, no doubt. You will enjoy it. And then you'll want to play Episode 1. And then Episode 2.

Portal is going to be brilliant fun, and Team Fortress 2 is already one of the best, funniest, enjoyable, clever multiplayer games I've ever played.

Buy the orange box

With the release of Episode 2, a new source engine version is coming, with support for larger maps. So hopefully mod teams will take advantage of that. Still, source maps can easily be huge already.

i got the orange box, its great, but going slightly off topic, how can i change the directory where the games are saved in steam? And i keep getting this "Failed to lock vertex buffer" in HL2:E1...

But yha, HL2 is a great deal in itself, not to mention the countless mods that worth more than most games, and you get HL2:Ep1, Portal, TF2 all for less than the price of a game.

Buy the Orange Box. Half Life 2 is the best story driven FPS of all time so far. I can't consider you a real PC gamer if you never played it. The episodes 1 and 2 are great extensions. Apparently Episode 2 allows very good draw distances that might carry over to mods.

You only need Half Life 2 for mods. The episodes will not work.

Team Fortress 2 is not very good. Pinnacle of arcade FPS. Portal looks pretty fun though. You can't beat the price.

I want to give this WWII mod a try. It sounds pretty good, though I worry that it will look too much like DoD causing kids to keep the same style of play.
