Single player was beyond lame, only slightly better than the second. I just played the last level on legendary (easy as crap by the way), and you can definitely be expecting a 4th Halo...

If anyone knows - does it have anything to do with the novels?

What I hate about these games is how the enemy is always sprinkled out like bread crumbs. You are there kicking the "popo" out of them but you always tend to surprise the next set of enemies in the next room... boring.

Imagine if we played it like that in online matches on Ejod City, "bunch of Noobs" would be putting it lightly

That, with the "I'm a tank" survivability, is good for small ego stroking but not much rewarding after surviving a fight.

I remember the "good old days" of Wolfenstein 3D where any enemy could put you down in one shot if they got your back, or more recently Max Pains action sequences ( ok bullet time helped alot )

The graphics look astounding, as usual, but gameplay is really what matters.

Tho I'm awaiting impatiently to see what Rooster Teeth productions are going to do with it

Probably nothing as they quit doing Red vs. Blue. Then again they might do something just for Halo 3.

I watched a friend play as I suck at console controls, but the single player campaign really was mediocre. I was hoping for a more exciting and conclusive ending and didn't get it.

He didn't go on Live! at all but if I had to take a guess, every screeching, foul mouth 12 year old ADHD child is on it none stop for the next 3 months or so. This is the main reason I couldn't get into online play for the previous two Halos (PC version of Halo had online play, don't think the Xbox version did.) Overall, I pretty much 'meh' on Halo3 and the series as a whole. Definitely not the end all of FPS's, much less gaming, as some would lead you to believe.

I've read all 3 books and Halo 3 doesn't seem to connect much with any of them at all. Absolutely nothing to do with the third one which is disappointing and confusing because I don't know if the third book takes place before or after Halo 3.

IMHO, reading the books is far more satisfying than playing Halo 2 or 3. Halo 1 is the only one I really think holds any ground when it comes to single player story line. 2 and 3 and SEVERELY lacking.

Someone needs to make a movie out of the first book.

The first book and the first game would make an incredible movie. The storyline for the 3 game was confusing at times, but I thought the ending was 'decent' (no spoilz, but make sure you wait and watcht through the credits). Overall though, I'd give it a 9.4 (incredible multiplayer element) where I would clock Halo 1 at 9.7.

You and your clocking mastalock, why I oughta clock you...

Why not on xfire lately? Too much halo3?

I...I miss you...

Halo lost everything after the first in my opinion, which seems to be like a lot of others' opinions. The first had such scope but you never felt tossed around. Two goes all over the place and introduces tons of new(read: stupid) characters. All you need in halo is Master Chief, Cortana, and that black dude. Period.
