Should I switch to vista yet?q

I am getting a 8800GTX and was wondering if vista is worth switching over for yet. I mean I would like to see Bioshock and CoH OF on DX10, but will PR still work fine with Vista? If I get vista I was going to pick up another 2 gigs of ram as well. so what's better XP with 2 gigs, or vista with 4 and DX10?

I dual boot to vista 64 right now riki

It's pretty rough. Vista is from some reason much slower than XP. Everything takes longer, especially the boot time which is about 2 min longer.

Vista 64 + 4 gigs of ram + xfi is a huge problem right now. If you are planning on upgrading do not combine those things, as xfi's drivers are seriously bugged with that combination. It's a known problem by creative who has done nothing about it.

But yeah, I bought vista just for dx10 and I have noticed a difference in Bioshock. It runs fine (except for the horrible audio static) and looks a somewhat better than the dx9 version.

But I really wouldn't completely move to vista if I were you. Dual boot and stay away from vista64.

Noooo

My 8800GTX has NEVER worked on Vista, it runs for a while then just locks up completely. I'm trying to sell it now (270GBP if anyone's interested) and get an ATI 2950 when they come out.

All is well to on XP.

yes it will but like some with vista it doesn't unless you do this, just right click on Pr exe file go to probities the combatibilty
then run on xp sp2 and tick adim then apply it, that should work. If that doesn't work either there are plenty of patches and fixes for this out their.

Your boot time is over 2 min!? I'm running vista and it takes maybe 20 seconds to get to the login screen. As for running games with vista I have mixed reviews. Some games it runs beautifully (ex.crysis), other games not so much. The most recent problem I've encountered is with the frontline beta. For some very odd reason, running the game on "very high" gives me about 10-15 fps, where as running it on "high" gives me 40-60. It might just be that the game is unoptimized, but its still interesting as the only real difference is some post processing effects.

I have no issues with Vista - Been running it for a few months now. However - I will be getting a mac here in the next few weeks. It's time I moved to the dark side

And what's a 6-year-old doing playing such a violent game? He's never going to enjoy kickball when he's screaming "Wallhack" from 2nd base.
