MK Colette Avital (Labor) has demanded that the Knesset plenum debate what she described as the "pornographic" campaign to encourage tourism sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and the Foreign Ministry.'

Avital's ire was raised by an advertisement that appeared in the American men's magazine "Maxim"; where Israel's 2004 beauty queen appears in a bikini; in an invitation to an event saluting Israeli beauty and women in the IDF.

Avital, who has served in the past as Israel's consul general in New York, wondered whether "the best way to encourage tourism to Israel is by developing sex tourism."

Meretz party chairman Zahava Gal-On was also enraged. "It is unfortunate that the New York consulate thinks that Israel's relevance will be expressed by the use of naked women who are treated as an object, and not as women of substance who exude achievement and success."

"It?s a shame that the consulate has not understood that countries of the Western world cannot market themselves through the use of half naked women,' added Gal-On.

Tourism Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich said that the ministry has no connection to the campaign.

Very odd indeed, sets back the feminist movement rather alot- i mean, its so blatent and unclever.

This kind of thing is what you expect from channel 5 rather than any government.

I think its a great idea if it works, and it probably will.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I think of the Israelis as kinda tough, so a naked sabra would not make me think of them as an object, but as a tough sexy woman who isn't afraid to shed her clothes.

Of course, I haven't seen the video because we can't allow children to hear curse words.
Personally, I don't think I learned many new curse words beyond age 11-12 except for learning how to curse in other languages so I'm not really sure what we are protecting children from.
If they want profanity or pornography it is easily available and I don't think realitymod.com is the place you would go first to naked women.

I remember when I was a kid in the US (around 7- while at art school I used the word "Damn" while in the elevator. A little girl who was in it at the same time looked at me then went to get the security guy who then lectured me for 5 minutes. I was like "wth ? what did I say ?"
The funny thing is when in class older english kids usually asked me how to translate such or such swear word in French

For the rest the ad isn't really well done, and the first chick ? erf thought it was their transexual winner of whatever thingy they had over there. (thought that's what the joke was about)
