Retarded. India has bad drivers but at least they look, I have never seen that happen in Brum. As they say 'only in America...'

I think that to get a driver's license you should have to do time in a simulator and that insurance rates should be based on your skill, not your age, type of car or how many speeding tickets you get.
If you have children there should be a special scenario where the kids are screaming in your ear and spilling food on you as you have to react to a stalled truck around a hairpin turn. |

But did you have to prove that you can bring your car from 65mph to a complete stop in the rain or snow ?
I think the level of competance of most drivers is horrible and I consider any day that I am not hit by one of these idiots a lucky day. |

Another of my ideas is that you should be licensed for a particular vehicle like you are qualified for certain types of aircraft.
A Porsche and Ford Focus behave much differently but once you have the license you are able to drive both, or everyone's favorite road hog, the SUV driven by a 90lb, 4'10" woman..... But no matter what you should be able to do an emergency stop from highway speed w/o losing control of your vehicle before you get the privilege of driving. |
