Where were you shooting it?

The SAW is a open bolt weapon with way way to much access to the internals from the outside. That means you get in a desert environment and you get nothing but dirt and dust in there within minutes of cleaning it. The feeder paws are absolute shit and break way way to easily, and the link extractors malfunction all the time.

And lets not forget the greatest security feature, a safety that doesn't work. You have to have the weapon charged to put the safety on, which means if the bolt slams forward for whatever reason, bam, ND (negligent discharge). And because of the design of the "safety" and how it works, a simple bump on a wall or going to the prone hard can cause the bolt to 'skip' over the safety. And when it tries to slam the bolt backwards to the open position, it catches on the safety again and completely fucks the bolt, and trigger mechanism.

Yes, the saw is a massive piece of shit.
