They're gonna force us to upgrade to DX10

As for the DX9 version we won’t have physics and day and night cycle in-game. That means you won’t be able to shoot down trees and/or alter any other objects than vehicles on the map.
Read it and weep (the limited DX9 servers available is particularly troubling)

read : there will be less dx10 multiplayer servers than dx9 servers for Crysis due to less people owning the hardware to play on them!

I read that, although;

Gamers with a DX10 card are able to play on DX9 servers, but with the limitation of the respective server. Vice versa it is not possible for gamers with DX9 cards to play on DX10 servers
Either way it's a bummer to be stuck between 2 technologies isn't it?

No. You want the cool stuff you upgrade. I don't see the problem.

No offence but I think you need to suck it up. The fact that they are even bothering with making a working dx9 MP with backwards compatible dx10 is nice of them. Everyone wants better games and better graphics but no one wants to upgrade their system. The developers can only do so much in dx9 and the time is coming that dx10 is going to be the norm. That is just the way the industry works, newer games need newer hardware to be at there best. The only kicker for dx10 is the that you need windows Vista which performs worse for gaming. So you get better looking games that run poorly, win win I say

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!

Heh... You guys are upset about DX9.

I'm upset about DX10.1 not being compatible with DX10 hardware.

Thats why you should never buy new things, revisions always come out and you waste money as the hardware is never even used to it's potential until long after it comes out.

The title is wrong.

It should be "Microsoft is gonna force us to buy Vista".

I'm no DirectX expert, but I believe that with a little effort they (Microsoft) would be able to integrate DX 10 into Windows XP.
They just don't want to - to make you buy Vista. And the problem is, that they can do it. You can only complain about it, or as they would say: You can always choose a different OS. Ah, wait, I forgot, there's nothing else with fully integrated DirectX support. Too bad...

Turn 360 degrees and walk away is what you should do tbh.
