The person who pulls the trigger can be stoped by taking the gun away, we have no serious problem with guns here in the UK because guns are illegal and to most of us, the gun is classed as a cowards weapon.

the person holding the gun is the one that killed because they cause the thing to happen a gun is a tool also hands are very good at killing if you use a .44 magnum or desert eagle if you hit someone with those they dead.

A gun must be loaded, by a person, thus it is not dangerous until a person has touched it. It will not jump off a wall and shoot you, unless a person picks it up. All is well until we create AI then we cannot blame people any longer.

As a Canadian, I'd ask that you not speak for all of us. I know plenty of Canadians with guns, and plenty that do not support a blanket handgun ban. The fact that people suggest this is the reason gun registries don't work.

While it would be fantastic if guns were really taken away from criminals - I believe it is too late in the already violent U.S. Around 93% of guns used in crime are already purchased illegally. If you ban guns all it will do is take it away from civilians. That last 7% will also get their guns illegally. Civilians will then have no protection while the criminals were not effected in any way by the ban. All that does increases the confidence of criminals, knowing that when they head into a bank the civilians wont be armed.

yeah but they are still a useless item reardless and i would feel safe speaking fro about 98% of canadians... at least in my experience of living in canada..

I undestand blanket bans and gun registries are ineefective.. BUT the rationale that having a handgun (not a rifle, shotgun etc) makes the world safer is by far one of the most retarded things i have ever heard...and i hear it quite alot on these forums...

canadians dont need a gun to feel safe. I lived in toronto for many years and i would guess that it is the most violent city in canada (not sure but assume so)
I never once felt that i needed to carry a gun to protect myself. purely my opinion..

I say to the government of canada....

1. start buying guns off the street for cash.. as many as possible

2. close down the gun makers..all of them aside from combat/security type weapons contracted by the government and police forces. desingate specific makers and place strict controls and registrations systems for each individual weapon. Make illegal the weapons manufacturing industry as a private money maker.

3. continue to buy guns off the streets.

Basically what it comes down to is people liking guns.. the hobbiest, the historians, the military types, the power mongers, the hicks in the sticks etc..
people like guns fro various reasons...i guess its alot like smoking IMO... you know its not good for you but you do it anyway...

anyway...not going to split hairs with you guys all day..but there is nothing beneficial to society for any individual to be carrying a handgun. (see brit police if you need evidence)

i dont know..this stuff just gets me angry.. id rather fight man to man than have some coward stick a gun in my face.. even a kid can do that...
