I have a P4 2.66Ghz, 9800Pro, 1.5GB ram. I can barely move at all low and 800x600 - extremely unplayable. It is like playing a slide show that has a 5 second delay between slides. Updated drivers but it still runs the same.

I run BF2 ad Medium-Low, 1280x1024 with great FPS.

Weird my specs are similar to yours...I have an AMD64 3400+(2.2GHZ), 9800XT, and only one gig of RAM and ran QW at 1024 x 768, as I do BF2, and it ran exceptionally smooth.

I didn't load any new drivers or the ATI hot-fix. Maybe you should do a system restore to just after you down-loaded but not installed the demo, and this time, do not install new drivers or the hot-fix, seeing as the hot-fix addresses the newer cards (a shader 3 issue no doubt) and don't forget that QW was coded at about the time the Radeon 9800's came out.

I didn't install driver till after I realized it was all screwed up..I never tried the ATI hotfix..didn't know there was one until now. It supposedly dosn't apply to the 9800..but I will try anyway.

Good luck Solo, hope you get it sorted out. The demo was a lotta fun. I can see where it'll be a decent team game once everything settles in.

Most of the classes and kits are about repair, build or destroy more than stalk and kill. The assault rifle had a bear of a recoil, the MG kicked like a mule, but I managed to get in some run and gun. In fact it spaced me out that I led and top scored the first full round I played.

I thank PR for awarding me with extraordinary cunning and am thankful for wasting all those nights playing Quake3 for the out-right twitch of brute force running with a gun.

I don't see this game doing well frankly =/ I tried it twice and could not come to enjoy it. I could not find any means of VOIP, or teamplay, it was all out skirmish...

I just tried it and it looked amazing but it was too much carnage and no gameplay at all. Fair play though it looked good with nice graphics.

ET:QW uses a terrain megatexture that works much like a carpet over a floor. It reacts to movement, objects and projectiles, sort of like it was alive itself (check the water effects when you toss a grenade in the water). The map size is restricted by that terrain megatexture.(32,768 x 32,768 pixels*) They can stretch it to up to 64k x 64k sized maps, but it would be at a lower resolution. That would mean less detailed objects (they can not merely add less objects to increase detail), and because it's an object (or several in terms of units) it would take a lot longer to render. There is consideration for moding 32k x 32k sized maps, big enough eh?

*information from SDK early release notes.

I liked it, and I think I'm gonna get it.
I'm a big fan of W:ET and and QW seems to be a great deal better. It's just fun.
+ There will inevitably be all sorts of mods for it...

Played it, expected to hate it, ended up loving it.

There are some balance issues though.

Are there any counter-measures for the helo's? Both of them are hard as heck to fly.

Also, how do you create/join squads?
