Semi-related: I'm getting a new rig in a couple of days, going to be running Vista on it, but since I've got a big enough HD, I was wondering whether it's worth dual-booting xp too, only for PR?

When i installed vista i put both it and xp on there own 110 gig partition, i used xp alot for the first month or so since there weren't any decent drivers out for my video card or sound card yet for vista but since that has changed. With Microsoft's latest few performance and stability patches along with nice stable vista drivers from Nvidia and Creative, vista has become my primary OS, i don't remember the last time i booted in xp and in fact i've been thinking about formatting it and merging the partition into my vista install.

I play PR in vista with absolutely NO problems, the people that are complaining about problems are generally the computer illiterate that are using old drivers, or they just lack any troubleshooting skills(there are exceptions). In fact i score higher in benchmarks in vista compared to xp, Vista 3d mark 06 - 10156 XP 3d mark 06 -10095, so yeah take that for what you will.

Thanks DieselOne

I'll just put a 20gb partition aside, in case I do decide to install xp.

Wise acts you, my young padavan!

No, seriousely. I have Vista, but I only installed it to get used to it. So if my mood is like I'm bursting with happiness, I play around a bit with vista, and I'm back on the floor in no time. I use XP for all my important stuff (like PR). I think we (humankind) wont be able to use Vista properly until SP2.

Oh, right, one more question. If I want to be able to run PR both in Vista and XP, should I either: install it on the Vista partition (where I will also be putting my other programs), install it on a seperate one, or install it on both the vista and the xp one?

Does installing it on one system allow it to run on the other one too?

You will need to install it in both XP and Vista as it makes registry entries needed to play the game as well i think it adds some .dll's in your windows directory not positive though(sure you could export and import them between OS's but thats generally more trouble than it's worth). And the same goes for most any program that you have to install.
