Should swearing be officially against the forum rules?

I've been gone for a bit and of all the things to come back to I find this post:

The post honestly caught me off guard, I mean come on, a post getting locked because the damn(no I won't stop saying damn) swore in his first post? Sure enough though, after looking up the new forum rules, I found this:

Inappropriate/Vulgar Language Using Inappropriate/Vulgar Language

The punishment is 2 warning points and 60 warn maturity(whatever the hell(no I won't stop saying hell) that means).

Since when has swearing become something that is officially wrong here? Seriously, I know the point has been made countless times to no avail, but the community is almost exclusively adults who no longer have virgin eyes and ears among other things. It can safely be said that the few exceptions to this are still in their teens and frankly any teenager who can't handle reading fuck, shit, piss, or any of even the worst vulgarities might either want to seek therapy or spend some time away from their computer. The point I'm trying to make is this forum now seems to have PG rating(don't know the European rating system) when most of the community is made up of adults is just ridiculous.

Moreover, swearing and vulgarities are an integral part of our language. Off course, every other word shouldn't be a vulgar one but it is undeniable that swear words are powerful and enforce a point with more strength than a normal word. This is essential on the internets where, because everything is in text, nonverbal cues are impossible and emotion is hard to convey. Swear words help in this since strong words can help to convey an emotion with more strength.

Ex. Which drives the point home

You're a friggin piece of gosh darn poop you TKer you.

or

You're a fucking piece of shit, stay the fuck off the server.

Now, before my damned computer overheats because my GPU has become such a piece of shit that even the internet overheats it, to why this bothers me so much. If you knew me you'd know I'm a strong proponent of freedom of speech and expression. Hell, one of my favorite quotes that graced my signature was by Voltaire: "I may disagree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." I hate censorship, especially censorship as ridiculous as this. I fully understand that this isn't my forum and it isn't any of the other normal posters and thus we have little to no say in the matter but I will still voice my thoughts(and hopefully will be heard/seen). And frankly, I'd choose to martyr myself for my beliefs rather than blindly excepting ridiculous rules like that found above.

Thanks luizinhuu for the find

No, as long as we don't swear after every word I don't mind swearing. Only problem is if we have really young people on the forums but i'm pretty sure they swear too.

Case by case

As once someone said, theres actually a difference, if one said:
"That f*cking A10 keeps killing me!"
Or:
"OMG u motherf*cker, you sux, gtfo etc."

But do we get warnings for swearing in general or swearing in an insulting way to someone?

[R-DEV]Gaz: Shout "WE R L33TZ" at the MD, sucker punch him, then teabag him while shouting "WHO OWNS YA? WHO OWNS YA? SAY OUR NAME! IGI! IGI! IGI! OFP2 Beta plz?"

I will always advocate the right to say whatever one wishes. Honestly, what is the difference between vulgarities and words considered 'ok for use?' I mean, what's the real difference between crap and poop, or f*** and copulation, besides the sociological connotations of those words? The answer: there is none, they mean the same thing, but for whatever reason, people tend to be irrational in which of those words they consider acceptable. In fact, did you guys know that f*** was not considered a vulgarity for centuries, or that crap actually derives from the name of the man who invented the modern toilet? I think the origins of these words pretty clearly shows that they are just that: words - a verbal representation of a physical object, or metaphysical concept.

But we were basically forced to agree to it. I mean, we couldn't even protest that rule if we didn't first agree to it to use the forums!

he has a good point

anyways, i think that as long as it's not used offensively (which is how it's used the most) it should be ok.

Swears words should be used for perfectly timed highly humerous effect or to show a great lot of human emotion - basicaly where the person struggles to express it through non swaery language.

THEREFORE it should be: Case by case.

Every so often i use a swear word in my posts however this swear word is carefully chosen and used for one or both of the above 2 reasons.

1 Grab a SAW
2 Find the highest hill/building around a flag
3 Move there, stay there, Spot, call out, attack marker... SAW!
4 For god sake go from high ground to high ground! NOT bottom of a valley to open field to gully!

Can some people actually not write a post without vulgarity? It's pretty simple.

When you swear in a post, it's quite evident you've gone out of your way to do so.

It's a pretty easy rule to adhere to imo.

The rule is only in place for really vulgar posts, to my understanding. Keep your language reasonably clena and the rule shouldn't affect you.
