No, its just a stupid word. F-U-C-K originated as an acronyms, while almost all other swear words originated from other normal meanings. I never saw why society saw something as simple as words to be so 'bad'. Often these words are just used to express emotion or something humorous, nothing wrong with that.

Even the modern definitions of swear words are nothing bad. There is nothing different between saying the swear word version and another word for it, except that society views it as wrong for NO apparent reason.

Swearing in general? No. If it is over the top (maybe directed at someone) then yes, but only a warning for that one person.

Oh please, who actually can say they read those. They're just a formality, nothing else. In any case, as it Majorpwnag3 already put so well, there would be no way of protesting against that if you don't agree to it in the first place. Kind of a funny paradox.

Not exactly. Many people, like me, type quite quickly thanks to spending way too much time at the computer. The keyboard, in a sense, becomes an extension of your body and you type without even having to think or concentrate on striking the keys. Effectively, this makes one type whatever is on their little mind without it being necessary to concentrate on individual words. Thanks to this I get my message across as a message, not as a string of words and if a vulgarity is part of that message than so be it. What I mean to say is that I don't concentrate enough on my message to carefully place vulgarities, rather they are just there.

I always thought it came from a Germanic word that meant to thrust but good old wiki has the answer.

The usually accepted first known occurrence is in code in a poem in a mixture of Latin and English composed some time before 1500. The poem, which satirizes the Carmelite friars of Cambridge, England, takes its title, "Flen flyys", from the first words of its opening line, "Flen, flyys, and freris" (= "Fleas, flies, and friars"). The line that contains fuck reads "Non sunt in coeli, quia gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk". Removing the substitution cipher[2] on the phrase "gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk" yields "non sunt in coeli, quia fvccant vvivys of heli", which translated means "they are not in heaven because they fuck wives of Ely" (fvccant is a fake Latin form).[3] The phrase was coded likely because it accused some Church personnel of misbehaving; it is uncertain to what extent the word "fuck" was considered acceptable at the time.

Thanks luizinhuu for the find

Just talking in a normal forum like this I would probably not fill my posts with loads of swear words. Probably the only time I would ever use them on this forum is to emphasise something humourous. I would never use it to swear at another member or for general moaning.

Perhaps the forum admin should install the swear word filter. That way people can just swear to their hearts content and it automatically turns it into ****
There are ways of getting round this, but if people do then they could just get warned etc.

Its against the forum rules, end of.

If you have to swear without thinking about it, then you need to have a serious think about your mental capacity

Thanks Nick.
