Can't seem to find one that actually looks like a desert... and if I do, it's like four different colors

No offense, but you can’t have people hold your hand through this whole map making process. As blackbird said, it’s tuff. I’m sure there’s a lot of trial and error. You need to research on your own and search other forums/sites for information if you really want to do this.

Don’t get me wrong, you can post questions or pm questions every once in a while, but you seem to be doing it for every step of the way.

Anyways, good luck. I know I don’t have the patience for something like this.

Well, having read Rg's post, he is right about the fact that you will need to do some research on other forums and sites.

For example, you'd be more likely to get a satisfying answer here: bfeditor.gotfrag.com (Official editor forums.)
The Project Reality forums aren't really the place to ask, since we don't have a lot of (experienced) mappers who regularly watch and post.

But, if anyone around here DOES know the answer I'd like to kindly ask them to share it with all of us.

Well it is mostly a trial and error process, when I was trying to make my map I was going for a Mogidishu kind of feel and I ended up getting the sand color to look pretty good. I would actually suggest you do more of the trial and error process, although asking for help is okay. Then again, i am not an experienced mapper.

haha sorry bud, i deleted the editor and totally forgot what it was, plus the sand color i ended up with was a rusty orange deal, as described in the book.

Yeah, mine are usually crusty looking and there's no ColorTexture that's really sand-like
