The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

As a russian AT, all you get is the PTRD, which does almost nothing against tanks and needs to be leant on something to fire. Meanwhile, the German AT gets 3 Panzerfausts (So less ammo, they're less accurate but devastating) and an MP40/41. I mean, you're never going to miss with the PTRD (and its hilarious against infantry) but it does nothing to the tank you're shooting at. | |

I played it, but it seems like a meat grinder. I assume this has to do with the onslaught of newbies but can anyone who had the game prior to the trial tell me if there is any squad play or team work you could get on good servers in PR?

To be honest I think I am pretty good at this game, usually in the top 1/3-1/4 of the game but some players really annoy me. My main pet peeve is the suicidal naders. They know where you are, but cant get a shot on you because you and your men have him pinned down, soon as he goes in the open he will die. But why not pop up in the open and throw a nade? You inevitably die but so what? You kill more of them. I find lots of other pricks in close range maps throw nades at like point blank while they are getting shot at and it pisses me off. Hell, they might die from the nade but they win the fight - its bs.
Overall it can be pretty damn fun though - but a bit redundant. I usually stop playing after 2-3 maps because I get tired/bored. |

The bolt actions are a little akward when you start with them, but soon you get the hang of it. Fun game, but a lot of servers just play the same map over and over.
I love that there is no minimap, if RO can do it why not PR *cough, cough* I did see some good teamwork several times that I played. There are some horrible maps, like the snow one with the half destroyed industry buildings, that got old fast. I did have some wow moments, though. Like on where a tank was slowly moving forward in a huge city map, and all the russians were following behind it to be shielded from the fascist machine guns. The tanks have a gradual throttle, which is extremely useful when supporting inf because you can go slow enough that they can walk behind you. I also like the fact that if you get close to a wall it will support your gun, and that when you go into ironsight mode, it raises you up, so crouching behind walls gives you shelter during reloading and manouvering, and a clear LOS when firing. Also, suppressing fire actually works in this game. It has a blur effect like in PR when bullets come near you, but it doesn't last as long, but the bullets can be much further out and still do it, as can far away grenades and artillery. TBH, RO played like a PR version of WWII, minus the minimap and air power. |
