Looking to get a new Mouse

So I'm looking to get a new mouse since my Saitek Gaming Mouse's wheel button broke when taking a trip to ranky's lan party and since then I've had to make do with no middle mouse button which has been slightly annoying epically when using the BF2 editor and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on a good gaming mouse?

Since I've always been impressed with the quality of the Saitek products I think I may get one again. Tried the logitech ones like the G5 etc and dont like the feel of them much, and since I've had some really bad mice from them in the past (long time ago thou) so I dont think ill get one of theres but still open to suggestions.

One I've got my eye on at the moment is the Saitek GM3200 Gaming mouse.

Quote:

Features

* 4 stage (800/1600/2400/3200) dpi gives on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment to match mouse speed to game environment
* 6 programmable buttons and dpi toggle with LED status indicator
* Soft-touch mouse buttons and rubberized scroll wheel for total comfort and extreme performance

* Instantly switch between 2 pre-configured profiles during games using the profile button
* Super-cool, pulsating lighting effects
* Lightweight, non-tangle 2.5m cable with Velcro tie
Only thing I aint sure about this mouse is that it looks a little "short" as such and I'm not sure how well it will fit my hand. The reviews say it fits there hands perfectly thou still not sure. If any one has this mouse please can you say cos I would like to know the length and width, and around abouts height of it in mm/cm and if they have any other comments on it please

As I said before, open to suggestions on other mice still

Cheers!

I know you don't like the G5, but I noticed a few things about that mouse. The sensitivity rating on that mouse goes from 800 up, the G5 starts at 400 and goes up, though it is a 2000dpi mouse. For me I use 400, 450, 500, and then higher for desktop work etc. But for me the 400-500 range on a 20.1" LCD @ 1680x1050 is a nice speed for most FPS but especially PR and Red Orchestra. Past that the mouse your looking at has all the features I would be looking for.

The one thing I would suggest regardless of the mouse you get is a proper optical mouse pad, I grabbed a dual texture (slick side, textured side) one from Funk Industries for $15 Canadian and it made a noticable difference in accuracey and smoothnes for me.

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!

I don't know Rhino the Logi G-5 just recently got that extra 2 right side buttons that it needed (7 programmable buttons total + the 2 sensitivity ones) but the Saitek does indeed look attractive and comfortable. Guess it's price vs ergonomics.

my current mouse has 7 buttons, with one on the right and i dont use the one on the right, partly because i cant be asked to load a profile for it each time and also cos im not much of a fan of right sided mouse buttons cos they are not that easy to press.

well after doing a little bit of working out I think going by the fact that the normal mouse wheel is 20mm long, the mouse is in fact 116mm long and 76mm wide, which if thats correct makes it in fact normal length, but a very wide mouse

That's because most right side buttons are designed for left-handers and are hard to access like the Razor mice.

Ah crap foot in mouth syndrome, I screwed up the new G5 only has 5 up from 4 not 7 opps...lol...I think I'll go back to bed and cover my head in shame.

The most recent one is the Diamondback I think, I'm using the Copperhead myself.
Very accurate and fast.

Well if you like the 800dpi setting then the G5 has no advantages for you. I find the 400 nice for a slower controlled movement of scopes, the faster settings like 800 have me waving the mouse back and forth a lot. Go with Saitek since you have been happy with them in the past.
