map sizes in 1944
Hey can anyone give me an example of a 160x160 km map in a game? http://www.1944game.com look at this. If only pr could do something like that lol. A bit off topic but when that game releases there going to be a mod that is the whole size of iraq in one map! Operation iraqie freedom fyi.

Tesher, I must admit that while the idea of a 160km x 160km (for a total of 25,600 sq. km, stats fans) appeals initially, given the limitations on the maximum number of people on a server (currently 64, possibly 128 with some tweaking) that's going to be 200 square kilometres of emptiness for each player on the server, if it was full.
You could probably ignore large areas of the map by judicious use of terrain, setting proper objectives and good spawn placement, but nevertheless the battles would by their very nature be less intense. Horses for courses. On a general note, it is generally considered polite to wait a little longer than 42 minutes before becoming disillusioned with the lack of replies. Some people may have read your first post and decided to think it over before replying. That in itself may take longer than you initially gave them. |

Well you guys should actually go to the site and read the media and fax on that game, it'll explain the developer's concept and process of running over 200,000 bot/players and the massive terrain. The only hitch is, some of us have been waiting for that freakin game for almost 5 years now...it may in fact be vaporware. At one point they were going to mod it for HL2 and maybe even BF2 instead of releasing a demo whenever they were ready....sigh...whenever....
