need some technical help
i just got my computer back from circut city and nothing seemed to be wrong with it except for the fact that the right side of the screen was basically a "black hole" that just goes on forever, if i open anything besides internet explorer it opens off the screen and i cant get to it, and all of my icons got lost in this black hole after a restart aparently, id rather not spend 45 min on the phone or take it in again so if some one could help id really appriciate it.

Sounds like someone set up dual display and didn't revert the settings. Are you able to bring up the display properties (right click desktop, click properties)?

Open up the properties dialog, alt-tab to it (if nothing else is open, that should entail pressing alt-tab once), press alt-space, press M, hit one of the arrow keys, and then move your mouse around (without clicking) until the window comes into view.
Provided that the dual screen config IS the issue here (it'd be rather weird, considering that, AFAIK, windows should recognize the lack of a display and disable it, unless some other software is messing it up). |

No if it's dual display, there had to be a 2nd monitor at one point(maybe for testing during repare?)and windows goes with the flow and runs it even if the 2nd monitor's not present. how about re-installing the graphics card (make sure the install is a clean one, delete the old driver and folders) and/or if it's ATI, install the ATI Catalyst Control Center with the new drivers. you'll have full control over settings with that. *Note: If you can't access settings/control panel or my computer, try start/search/files or folders, you can delete as much as you need to there.
One more thing; have you tried system restore. I realize you've just gotten it back from C.City but you never know till you try. |
