Dual core CPU??

Ok first things first....what is a dual core CPU and how is it better than what i have now which is>>>Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.8 GHz?

I wonder because over at >>>>http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
which is where i go to see if my PC can run a game, it says that i need a dual core CPU to run World in conflict.

Now how much would it cost to upgrade my PC or get a dual core or do i have to buy a new PC??

Your better off getting a new pc. From what I understand, getting a new processor means having to get a new motherboard. I could be wrong though.

sometimes, you just have be sure it's compatible, but i'd recommend getting a whole new computer since doing that can give you a headache

Two processors really, which can in certain applications share the workload. It's not exactly the same speed-boost as having a processor with the combined speed, sometimes it's slower, sometimes it's faster.

I see so its basically a 2 in 1 package that most things coming out now and in the future will start to require but for the things now it can be for the better or for the worst because some of the games or w/e out today or have come out before arent made for dual core so they dont work well with it.

Is that about right??

Yes, though atm, you're best off getting atleast a dual-core one. Quad-core is not fully supported yet by a lot of games, but will be in the near-ish future.

But then in a few months i would have to buy a quad core right?? Man this is retarded...well then for Christmas i will be getting this dual core PC and a new graphics card. But im going to use the screen and ram that i have now since i just bought this ram and the screen is a 17" LCD which is good enough for me.

Im also going to buy some new speakers real soon(within a month or so) so im wondering what are some good speakers out there?? A 2 or 3 piece set is enough. Im not looking for surround sound set or anything.
