Forum Rules: Signature width

Why is the Signature width limited to 550?
You could have a width limit of 697 without any damage to the layout of the forum.
And it wouldn't waste more space unlike higher signatures.

For me it's annoying when users use bigger sig than those limited. Besides I think those limits are fine by all means. Perfect measures.

I have signatures and avatars turned off now anyway. It makes the forums a LOT nicer to read.

Like Bosco said, rules are rules.
In fact if it were up to me then no sigs would be bigger than 450 x 120 pixels.
But, as it happens, it is NOT up to me so 550 x 200 IS the max rule.

You could petition for bigger limits, but I wouldn't hold my breath that you would actually get it.

I'm not for bigger signatures.
I don't like big fat ugly sigs either but a 697x150 bar is much better than a space wasting 550x200 chunk.

And they also allow ppl with less bandwidth to spare to be able to browse the forums at decent speeds.
