Hi,
Im in the dark about how Forums really work and you guys have a shit hot site and seem smart n all . To create a forum on a website do you need a database? what do you need, vbulletin? is that all? how about hosting, anything special needed?

While I don't know the answer to your question, I can tell you (on the topic of "how forums work") that it's a MAJOR faux pas to post the exact same thread in more than one section.

I run a forums, you need a few things:
Host- a host server, a friend of mine hosts ours for free so i pay nothing there

database-place to put all that crap

Cpanel-makes things a hell of allot easier

Vbulliten-Expensive and hard to work and know at first.

This is how hard, say when you want to DL a cool hack for VB but you accidently misplace a comma, your forums are ruined.(happened to me once)

But the hardest thing is managing members, and net mosquitos

and the most annoying thing is SPAM BOTS

its nothing like myspace, 10000X harder.

and you might want to know how to use PHP very well for the homepage. (i still dont really know)

but if you get all those things then it really isnt that hard

A friend of mine said there's free forum hosting (kind of like GeoCities, except with forums) sites out there. Does anybody know of any?
