I tried to buy ArmA

It was 3pm on Saturday afternoon and right after firing up PR, I thought to myself as it's loading; "I need a new game. I'm gonna go get ArmA."

So I went to Best Buy. Then 2 different GameStops. Then a Circuit City. No one had it.

Not that it's totally surprising, but I'm wondering if this is a sign I probably shouldn't buy it. People seem to either love it or hate it, not much middle ground.

For PR I play exclusively on Tactical Gamer server as "vanity11"

For ArmA I play exclusively on Tactical Gamer (coop and evo) as "Vanity"

Eh, I tried the demo and it really wasn't too grand. Hell I couldn't SEE the enemy before they where headshotting me from some big distances.

I didn't like the demo at all either but a few people have remarked that the demo is an terrible interpretation of the full game.

To be totally honest, if I can buy it for $30-35 I'd get it in a heartbeat and not care whether I liked it or not. But if it's going to cost $40-50 that's the point where I need to enjoy the game for the price.

By itself, the game is decent.

With addons, and game is awesome.

With an organized group of guys, it is beyond awesome.

With an organzied group of guys on a server running coop mission and addons, it is beyond compare.

For the record, I wouldn't recommend buying a digital copy - way too many hassles associated with it.

My Best Buy had ArmA. I ended up going to three different stores to get R6 Vegas, only to find my processor is 1.8Ghz too slow <_<

Speaking of digital copies, I was just browsing online to find one. I've bought a few games via download and have never had an issue. Is there something specific with this title and it's digital download?

Not sure about D2D, but I beleive all of the other digital versions require some sort of activation after every patch, and you only have a limited number of activations (required every time you install as well). That may only be for the Czech and German versions though.. I'm not sure about the Atari (US) version.

Or, I may be way off base .

Windows does this too. I have to call them everytime I do a rebuild b/c I've activated the copy so many times over the years, they think I'm pirating it or something.

I'm sure they (ArmA)have a work around in place. I just found it on Direct2Drive for $40. I think I'm gonna get it!

I bought it. It'll be done downloading in 1 hour.

Could one of you guys who plays frequently PM me with info on good servers or games to join? I'm an older guy, I'm 27 and have been playing PR since .3 and computer games since I was 12. I've got a mic and am looking for a solid teamwork and mature gameplay. I'm a TG contributing member so those servers are fine too.

Looking forward to playing!

Mostly Brits, but there's a few of us form North America. We have a dedicated server running a number of coops. TS and server info are listed on the website.

I think every member of RGG plays PR - we have DEV's, MOD's CON's and PUB's in our ranks.

TG has two servers up IIRC - one playing Evolution (repetitive but immensely popular mission) and another one running coops.
