Sad moment.
It was a hot Tuesday atfernoon on the beach head of Gulf of Oman and
the tickets where going down fast. I was supporting the rest of the ground units moving up on the beach head of Gulf Oman, I was lying down on top of a roof top watching the Insurgents randomly firing amongst marines that where getting ready to flank the middle Insurgent checkpoint. As the Marines where advancing fastly as they could with Armour suporting there approach, a Super Cobra came flying in blasting Insurgents everywhere but still Insurgents were coming in I then though right lets kick some Insurgent ass I then picked up my M24 and ran up to the Marine squad that was about to charge! Then I quickly lyed down looked through my scope at a Insurgents face, already thinking right 34 comfirmed kills looked at him and said "kiss your ass good by" pulled the trigger and out comes the back of his brains. The tickets quickly went to 1 then ! it then said you have been awarded the Expert Sniper Corp Badge.....I was in tears it was the most happiest time of my life I recon! |

It was a blistering hot day in the city of Karkand. US Marines were poised to strike a formdable force of MEC forces directly. The action was going to get close, get dirty and, most of all, get brutal.
I was attached to 2nd Squad, one the the Commander's favorites. My job was to support my squad with medium-long range precision shots, using my trusty M24. Excuse the dark humor, but I was on a roll. I moved my rifle with the wind... my bullets piercing the air and striking their intended targets on every attempt. My aim was fluid, it was precise... as if I've been using this rifle since birth. Normally, I whisper the kill amount upon every successful shot. But not today. The amount of time it took for the my brain to process the shot and send to my vocal chords was not enough. The kills were coming in too fast. I had to whisper them in my mind. This was no usual op. I had to move fast, move quick.. be unnoticed, but never be idle. Roofs were a forgotten pleasure. I had to stay on the ground. I had to keep moving. "Keep moving", I said to myself. "Don't stop. They having nothing on you. You are one of a kind. All you need is a shot. Just give me a shot". As the battle wore down, the screams began to faid. The enemy grew more disorganized. We were winning. Once the battle was over, we still needed to mop up the remenants of the enemy forces. As we scattered throughout the map... I whispered my last kill amount that I had stored in memory. 46. 46 kills and only 6 times was I defeated. The only friendlies that came close was a hard talking Marine with 21 kills. But that was no match. I knew the requirements for that Expert Sniper Badge. It was within my grasp.. at long last. The commander stepped into the battle wrecked field and called me to his side. He reached into his pocket and pulled it out... my reward. He told me how many lives I saved. He told me that I am a hero in the eyes of squadmates. I had to hold back the tears when I remembered the fallen. He unclipped the pin in the badge. With a great sense of accomplishment, I took a deep breath and straightened up. My body grew stiff as a rock. The Marine in me took form. The commander reached at the left side of chest to pin my reward... Then, with 1 ticket left, some asshat admin kicked & banned me because his buddies on teamspeak thought I was cheating. "Better luck next time", he said. The end. |
