Here's one example in Texas, though I'm not sure if it's the one you're talking about.

Thirty-five states now have the "shall-issue" system of permits, and two or three states are considering such legislation. In all of the states that have it, the results have been excellent. Yet in the remaining states, the antis still howl about how such laws will return us to the Old West (Some studies show that the Old West had lower crime rates than today.) and talk about bloody streets. Yet the evidence, as in Texas, is reduced crime rates.

I live in the gulf coast of Texas, close to Galveston exactly and well, what happened to New Orleans in the trauma of Katrina, looting, murder, rape, and mass chaos,

The local authorities of that city had no control not because they didn't want to they just couldnt do anything,

It took that city more than 2 months to regain control, i will not let that happen to my property, Thats why i do support the use of Fire Arms for defense of property.

The current stance on that however is "there is more likely to be a death in a home with a gun than in a home without a gun" of course thats true, but the same is about homes that have a microwave.

I do keep guns as is my constitutional right to do so.

As for schools,

The Gun Free philosophy is wrong, if some one brings a gun into a school, wouldn't it be better to have someone , a security guard for example, be in possession of a fire arm to defend the school's students,

My state is a "May Issue" state but we have a history of NOT giving CCW's to much of anyone, including people who are being stalked or are under threat of death. I remember two or three such people ending up dead when confronted face on and toyed with.

I walked into a gun store just today, and someone there was talking about Katrina, and how naive the younger generation is about firearms and protection in the event of such a catastrophe (I live on a major fault line, that's been overdue for an earthquake for at least a hudnred years).

But remember at Katrina, they started taking up all the firearms of private homeowners, leaving them defenseless...

which was never on the news that i remember,

The only reason that, they didn't go into Marshal Law was because the Louisiana state constitution does not recognizes Marshall Law.

but either way the National Guard was there, and did take control.

It still happened. There was a long YouTube video segment on it, and some old lady who had cops beat her up. Katrina was a clusterfvck, because the Mayor was an ass, and most of the citizens were too stupid to realise "hey, we've got a huge hurricane coming, and we live below sea level.

I've heard crazier excuses. Some whackjob on the History Channel believed that Katrina was controlled by a weather machine, bought by Yakuza from an ex-KGB agent. Katrina was "revenge" for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Where do people come up with this crap?

Yes, he is.

OT- It's martial law. Not Marshall.

I carry, for SD and Utility purposes, an Emerson CQC-15. It's illegal to carry (if you read the law carefully for NYC, almost all knives are) in NYC, but i have it for work (it's VERY efficient with those pesky cardboard boxes and plastic blister-wrap).

In any case.. I have no doubt about my abilities with this knife against some punk who wants my cash, car, or whatever. The way the knife deploys, and its design are all centered around self defense.

As I sell knives as well at work, it gives me some credibility to anyone who comes looking for a knife for whatever purpose. Several people have come in in the past week who assumed off the bat that I knew nothing, until they saw the emerson skull clip sticking out of my pocket.

I'm all for open carry of knives. Guns I have been traditionally for as well, but I've started to re-think that, given some of the people who I've seen come in looking for a gun, and could probably legally get one.

The laws for NYC are so restrictive regarding knife carry, it's essentially a ban. The term "gravity knife" is so vague, it can cover a well-worn folding knife.

Anywho. Yes, Bush and the lizardmen control the weather. Open firearms ownership in the NO tragedy could have made things better, but it could've also made things a lot worse.

Personally when I turn 21, and when I'm an officer in Nassau County PD, I will always carry concealed off-duty except where prohibited by law. I will keep a weapon in my house for self-defense. I don't know about you... but while 9/10 felons just go back to jail the next day, I don't want that 1 felon to come looking for me and my family and harm them in any way. There were instances of that years ago (PD releasing cops into other public service jobs, with no CCW licenses), a ret. cop was driving a public transport bus, and someone he put away for 10 years comes on the bus... stayed on the bus for several hours, staring this former cop down, before the police were able to board the bus and take the guy away.

I'm glad that now former cops get Unrestricted CCW permits valid all over the US. While when I'm retired, I may not carry daily, I'm determined to never become a statistic.

Reality is what we take to be true. What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends upon what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. What we take to be true is our reality.
