I agree with those guys mass carry doesn't work. Under the current system having to get the courses and what have you the people who are willing to go through all that really have a lot of incentive not to go crazy and be mature about having a gun. Of course criminals don't but then they don't follow gun laws anyways.

I support concealed carry. Look at Israel, they have people with guns everywhere, same with Switzerland.

I do not support this.

Here are some videos that dispute people's claims.

"Canada has the same gun heritage as the US, but half the gun crime. The problem is not guns, the problem is the people"

haha no, most people would want them cus GUNZ ARE KEWL, but in reality you get a bunch of cowboys shooting dangerous weapons about trying to be the next john mclane whenever there is a small disturbance.
Never looked at what has to happen to get a Concealed Carry License, have we?

Here's some excerpts from the qualification (before you can even apply for, and then be tested again, to get the license):

-You are always legally and financially responsible for every bullet fired, regardless of the circumstances or your intentions!

-Shoot only to neutralize the threat. If the threat ceases, deadly force ceases immediately

-Deadly force can only be used when you or another person are in immediate fear of death or serious bodily injury. As defined by the State of Tennessee, "serious bodily injury" can include:

-Broken bones
-Loss of consciousness
-Large, painful, bleeding wounds
-The loss of use of a limb or an organ and/or permanent disfigurement
-Any injury with a substantial risk of death

Deadly force must be proven justifiable in court

-Deadly force is never justifiable in the defense of property and you can not shoot a fleeing suspect

-The following three things must be present before deadly force may be used in self-defense:

-Intent
-Ability
-Jeopardy

-Restrictions on the use of Deadly Force:

-You may not shoot anyone who does not pose a threat
-You may not shoot a fleeing suspect
-You my not shoot a warning shot
-You may not shoot to wound
-You may not shoot at or from a moving vehicle

-One of the first questions you will be asked is "Was there something you could have done to avoid this situation and was there anyway you could have escaped?"........If there are any avenues of escape, you WILL take one.

-Think first, shoot last!!! If in doubt, do not shoot!!!

-Firearms are not permitted in the following areas:

-Federal reservations (government buildings)
-Courthouses
-Schools
-Airports
-Parks
-Posted areas
-Any plase where alcohol is sold for "On premise consumption"
-Department of safety
-Voting places

Then it goes into details about after the shooting. Call 911, etc. Also lists psychological and physiological reactions to shooting someone.

For some reason, people think that you just walk into an office, ask for a CCW permit, and get one.

There's one city (in Georgia, I think) that has required Concealed Carry, for every citizen. They're crime rate is among the lowest in the country.

Oh, what happens when you don't have a gun?

Can they do that? I know Minnesota is a shall issue state now. In other words if you qualify they have to issue you the CCW permit. I am curious how that required carry law works.

It's not statewide, just city wide.

Okay - one city.

Is there any evidence to suggest that the low crime rate of this particular area is directly correlated to this Concealed Carry law? What about the demographics? History of the area? Or shall we just make assumptions?

I live near Toronto, and our crime rate is pretty low - not many people carry weapons either. Heck, most people leave their doors unlocked.

That's a good question--one I can't answer. I do know, however, of another city (I believe it was in Texas--it was in Pen and Teller's Bullshit: Gun Control), where they had a high crime rate, but it dropped once the Concealed Carry laws were passed.

Here's another tid-bit:
