Heh, and Colin Clarke is a joke.

I wish I had his job. Apparently he gets paid to sit on his ass all day long since he made a few posts a couple months back and hasn't been seen since. Sounds like a dream job, eh, get paid to not do any work?

Heh .. well.... here's my comments:

If they are working on a patch, WHY would they not have contacted say the 4 or 5 largest and most played BF2 mods and said "what would you like to see in a patch?".

Today at peak there was 23000 vBF2 players, 11000 2142 players, 2000 BF2:SF players and 1200 mod players (of which 600 were PR players).

I guess I kinda answered my own question... they don't care because there is no revenue stream (as a result of previous decisions). Hence the fact that Colin Clarke (the mod community manager) has made no attempts to directly contact anyone from Project Reality and any upcoming patches will likely do nothing for modders.

I am completely off topic now and have fallen into another EA rant.....

Cheers!

Don't even get me started.

BF2 gets released, DICE members post on totalbf2.com (Not much, but they are there and actually answering questions etc) A couple weeks go by, they disappear.

BF2142 gets released, DICE members post on totalbf2142.com, again not much but they are posting. A couple weeks go by, they disappear.

Well they say a patch is in the works. That does not even imply it will ever be done. I guess it's just something to say to appease people asking. I guess they had their legal guys go over some likely questions and tell the PR guys what answers they can give without actually getting in a situation where they need to deliver anything. All other topics are: "I can not comment on this"

I read an article recently on the costs involved in developing a new game with a new game engine etc. (AandTech I think?) Total cost can be upwards of 60 million! They try to re-use game engines etc. to save costs. I then find it laughable that the EA rep tried to make $300,000 sound like a big scary deal If games are released with serious flaws the community knows about it real fast via gameranking, gamespot, the list goes on. So a company will be quick to release a patch to fix the issues and hence show that it has a worthy product and lead to stronger sales figure. EA has not addressed several issues from the get go, instead ridding on the coat tails of BF1942 (the mod community for this game as well) Knowing that they have made the initial big push of sales they seem content to drop BF2 from the priority list as there is no revenue to be had. If however they had fixed the many flaws earlier and increased their support/interaction with the mod communities they could have extended the sales of BF2.

EA seems to favour booster packs and newly rehased games over quality of existing products.

EA if your reading this, drop the patch idea and open of the files a bit so mod teams can make things happen.

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!
