What RAM to buy?

I am buying RAM for someone else's computer and I remember when upgrading RAM for my Dell it had to be a specific type & speed, how do I know what kind to get without having the owners manual? I'd like to get the most high-end RAM possible for it.

Here are the complete specs (from EVEREST Home Edition)

high-end ram is almost always wasted on a dell system.

Haven't looked over your everest, i just hate seeing people use dells and blow money on expensive ram which only offers minor performance differences in a dell system as compared to a stick of valueram or something.

Reality is what we take to be true. What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends upon what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. I never said the computer I was upgrading was a Dell. It's not my computer, as I stated in my post. I was relating this case to when I had upgrade my ram. Because it was a Dell it was extremely picky, and I could only get like 2 kinds of Ram so I had to buy from Dell. It wouldn't even let us get "high end" ram because the entire comp was a bit outdated.

You also missed the point, what I asked was how to know what kinds of RAM are ok with the comp without having the owners manual. Does it depend on the mobo or what? You didn't have to go on a rant about Dells.

My dad bought our Dell - he dosn't really know anything about computers, let alone PC's. I didn't have any say in it.

depends on Mobo's capabilities.

a quick google (while probably unreliable) pegs the mobo in the everest report as using PC3200 DDR ram.

Didnt actually look at the specs but any 240 pin DDR2 should probably be fine.
