Red Orchestra: Osfront
Anyone else play this mod for the Unreal Tourn. '04 engine?
It's a realistic WW2 Infantry/Tank simulator. I could fill up a whole page with its qualities..definitely has some of the nicest weapon/ballistics and damage modeling around. Not to mention decent video and excellent audio Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BppI2Ni21go Infantry tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWr8tfB0Rqs MG42 ... the sound of this MG alone will make you look for cover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Emw8Ax5g3i8 russian PRTD antitank rifle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aky02k7-wF4 tank tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIbf6wQjfOU Played RO now for a couple years. I'd still be playing if I hadn't stumbled across PR about a month ago....so I probably won't be going back to RO for awhile You just can't beat the teamwork on most PR servers. It just makes the game. RO is good sim but PR really gets you pumped with it's authentic "I'm in the military feel" and the teamwork. |

Never played it but heard nothing but good things
Too bad a decade of WW2 games has left me numb to any game using that setting |

Well, to be correct, Red Orchestra: Ostfront is a stand alone game, based on a mod for the UT games.

I guess you could say RO is slightly different becuase it deals with the conflict between russia and germany...but yeah in the end it's still WW2. | |

I played RO long before I got into PR. In fact, I've played RO since before Bf2 was even out! I have a retail version around here somewhere, but, since PR hit .4, I haven't touched it. I recommend people try it if they have a craving for PR-esque action in a WWII setting. Every now and then, if you download the game from Valve's Steam game service, they let everyone play it for a weekend even if you haven't bought a copy, so you can get a feel for it before you buy. If a few other people around here play Ostfront, maybe we could get a game of only PR players going sometime in the future. I would be happy to get back into RO if I knew some of you guy were playing, too!

the best simulation of fire and maneuver game mechanics for the individual soldier ever made so far for a video game. the only thing that sucks is that, for whatever reason, every U.S. server is filled with high pingers from other countries that are hard as fuck to hit with a bolt-action rifle.
wish they would use the same mechanics to make a modern combat game. |

Never seen any teamwork in this game.... all Ive seen is gun and gun day of defeat players...
No one covers each other, everyone has their own personal war, most of the maps are played the same way most times (veteran players know the best camping spots and use these constantly while new players just rush down the middle of the road getting mowed down) Its a good idea but unforunately the playerbase really kills it for me.... They DONT have a minimap though ^_^ |
