This about sums up most of my thoughts. Just wait until 3 months before the release, and its only 80% destructible environment, then a month later its only 65%, then one month it's only 40% destructible... of course they won't make mention of that until they made their sell quota, then it's off to another game (or expansion/booster packs that have some of the other things promised) to make more money.

It's as if they're basing this game over everything being destructible.

Ever since the very first press release, they've gone on and on about everything being destructible. Yes, BF2 was supposed to have most things destructible, but the developers realised that everything got levelled during the course of a game, resulting in a flat battlefield with zero structures, and decided to drastically limit the number of destructible objects. I honestly see no reason why having everything destructible is going to be fun. As if armour whoring isn't bad enough already, this new game is going to mean infantry have no chance against tanks. Currently the only real option infantry have 90% of the time is to run and hide in a building. Well with this game there'll be no buildings if what EA promises (though honestly, an EA promise almost always means the end result will be the direct opposite of what they originally said) turns out to be true.

Actually, they did state that it won't be 100% destruction, because they don't want to end up with a flat playing field, but that they are going for as much destruction as possible.

Tourag (PR 2) will be released as a stand alone game for 360 and PS3 aswell as next gen PC's using the latest DICE engine under licence from DICE. More news will come once we have recieved conformation that the British Army are still interested in sponsoring us.

How much would engines like the BF2-engine cost? It's just a thought, but I'm curious about what amount of cash we're talking about here
And what if the engine is for sale and we bought it, would it be possible to keep on extending this thing and keep on improving and improving it and one day it's not the BF2 engine anymore, but the PR engine. That same engine is being upgraded and worked on to become the PR2.0 engine, and so forth.. Is this theoratically possible? |

Typically a license for a popular game engine costs in the ballpark of half a million dollars. But the BF2 engine isn't even for sale.
