Drivers & Load times

Two questions for you guys:

1. What are the best video card drivers out right now?

I am still using the nvidia drivers that came with the game. Any updates I should know about?

2. I am also having a problem with my load times all of a sudden

I have defraged, the game is on a seperate partition. I have a AMD 3500+ on dual raptors w/ 1gb of RAM. The game goes through its normal load with the percentages just fine. Then once its done with that and says its checking content or what ever it just hangs for like 1 min. It would load before in a matter of seconds. I have also noticed at the same time that my sound seems to be crackling. So I have replace sound card drivers to try and still no help

Anyone?

I have the same issues since 1.03. Also nVIDA have released newer drivers since the ones that came with the game. Check under downloads at www.nvidia.com for the latest set for your card/system.

I use ATI. So im not sure if this will help, for some reason when you adjust your video settings by turning up or down more than one at a time, it increases the "Verifying Client Data" proccess. I think it has something to do with the Cache proccess.. So..What i did was the following, its simple really, but a long proccess:

Im assuming your performance in game is set to how you like it..

Ok, remember or write down ALL of your video settings.

Set everything to LOW via the Overall Settings drop-down menu up at the top in the Video options section.

Turn each setting up one by one. This means, turn the Terrain up to where you had it, load the game, exit the game, turn the next one up etc etc..

For some odd reason this seems to solve a lot of problems. Then again I'm using an ATI card, so I dont know if the results will differ for you. Its a long proccess if you dont have a lot of RAM. (with optimizing and all)

Its up to you if you want to try it or not. I was having the exact same problem, I had tried everything to no avail..One day i got bored and did what i described above, joined a server and the Verifying Data only lasted for like 15seconds..

Ooo... I'll try that! Got to love how poorly optimised this engine is.

If you change you settings a lot, I've heard about [and tried
with success] removing the BF2 cache files located at
" C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache ".

Just delete the files, not the Cache folder.
The first load will take longer but after that everything
should be quicker loading. Also, 2GB RAM makes a huge loading
difference, I am usually top 3 to load into a game.

Driver have never made a noticable diff for me.
Using 81.94 WHQL ForceWares currently.
