i think the "planning to serve" bit is stupid , ive been planning to join the RAF reg for about 10 years now , but about a yr b4 i was going to i find out i cant, things change , i bet half the ppl on that list don't end up joining.

I like the fact that we do have a lot of people playing that actually served but I would agree that not everyone who claims to have been military really is.
But on this site at least, if you are going to fake it, you had better do your homework because we have a lot of fact checkers here and the slightest inconsistency will be picked up instantly.

I was reading the original poster and thought "Oh dear..."

To clarify, I have never flown a military aircraft, and I in no way have served with the armed forces. I would like to be a Navy pilot and I am learning to fly PA-28 Warriors in real life.

I'm thinking the same as the OP. I've seen some 'military pilots' who spell and use punctuation like someone broke their fingers.

Conman soldier a laughing stock He filmed sex act on guard duty

EBAY conman Maurice Mennie disgraced himself while serving with the Territorial Army in Iraq, the Record can reveal.

Soldiers who served with Mennie claim he filmed himself indulging in a sex act while on guard duty at a base under constant mortar bombardment.

Mennie was supposed to be the eyes and ears of Camp Abu Naji - but instead committed an act of indecency and filmed himself.

On another occasion, again while on guard duty, he was caught watching a porn DVD, soldiers claim.

And Mennie sparked a blaze which destroyed Iraqi army gear after leaving his sleeping bag to dry on a gas canister.

The Record exposed Mennie on Wednesday for selling fake Army gear on internet auction site eBay and concocting a fake military record for himself.

It painted a glowing picture of Mennie, from Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, as a member of the Royal Military Police. But he never served with them.

Instead, ex-colleagues said Mennie's main contribution to keeping the peace in Iraq was disgrace, blunder and ridicule.

Mennie served in Iraq from August 2004 until early 2005.

Yesterday, one former Army regular said: "This guy was supposed to be on guard duty at Abu Naji. We were under constant mortar fire and this joker commits a sex act and films it.

"The footage was discovered by a soldier controlling internet access and reported.

"Another time, he was caught again on guard duty watching a porn DVD. We reckon he was never charged because the officers thought it would bring disgrace on the unit.

"When he was on guard duty, no one got a wink of sleep because we were wondering when the next blunder would come.

"On one occasion, he destroyed a batch of Iraqi army kit when a fire started after he put a sleeping bag on a gas canister to dry. Everybody knew how it started but the top brass glossed over it because he was Territorial Army.

"No one thought this was fair because the TA personnel were generally very good.

"At one point, he flashed a letter awarding him a promotion to corporal.

"It took the guys 14 seconds to realise this was fake. He finally admitted he had written it to himself - and then said he'd soon be promoted anyway."

Another source said Mennie drove for miles to barracks in Wales in a car while wearing full desert outfit. He added: "No one would do this unless they were a big hit for themselves.

"Once he got to the base, we realised he had knee-pads on that had been spraypainted to match the rest of the uniform.

"The guy was a joke. But the guard-duty sex act was the final straw. After that, he was shunned like a pariah."

Mennie was not available for comment last night.

He used to march about like he used to be a General and claimed to have served in Bosnia and N.I. but now he's exposed!! What a loser.
