I think the most striking cultural difference on this thread is from the US posters who are convinced that any paper published by a reputable medical journal must have the hidden hand of the pharmaceutical industry behind it.
This must be an effect of all those medicine adverts that they have on the TV over there, deep, deep cynicism.

The deep cynicism comse of watching those companies get caught fudging the numbers along with the governement and just about everyone else.
It might also be that it is not cynism but realism to understand that there is no such thing as truly objective but that's just a cynic's POV.
