I was big into BF:V and PoE 1 for a while and wanted more of that Battlefield franchise goodness, so I naturally migrated over to BF2 for many reasons (was impressed with the demo and news that PoE would migrate over to the BF2 engine, namely). I found out about PR through a link from the Total War Tournament (even though, ironically, they never used the mod for tournament play to my knowledge). When PR finally released, I stuck with it and played it pretty much exclusively when PR had a consistent group of players to play on Gloryhoundz.

I bought it (used) to play PR and FH2 though I tried PR first and put FH2 on the backburner until very recently. No way in hell would I ever have bought bf2 if it were not for PR. I tried the bf2 demo when it came out. It ran terrible and the gameplay was absolute garbage IMO as far as realism goes. I got nothing against unrealistic games but when they start using real equipment/weapons/soldiers and they behave fuggin ridiculous I get agitated. In a nutshell I hate "arcady" war/military games. So after I tried the demo I said "no way" and forgot about bf2. I then came across vids for PR & FH2 and the rest is history.

Requested it from the library after seeing it at a Fry's Electronics computer display advertising Special Forces. Two months later, the library system takes a while, I'm notified the game's ready for pick up.
Walked to the library to pick it up, saw the cover, and couldn't wait to play. Back at home, I saw the three CDs. I knew it had to be good with all of that content. Installed it, loaded up single player and my mouth dropped. It was my first FPS on the computer, the rest were console shooters. None matched the variety of BF2. Later that night, I joined my first online game and joined a squad. Heard a real life human being in another part of the world talking to me over the game. That was epic. So I had to return it eventually, and I needed a new copy. I shopped around and got the Complete Collection from Best Buy, played my money's worth on everything it included, then I found Project Reality in .6. The British and Militia looked great, so I tried it. I heard those mics again, something rare in vanilla. |
