well apparantly I was told that when they were deciding on what language would be the primary one in the US they were around 4% out of having it as German. They had a vote and just less than 50% voted german I think.

so you see, always vote...

these days though it's the other way around. German is becoming more English using terms such as Der Team and Der Manager. Though my favourite english-german verb has gotta be 'downloaden'

Not too odd seeing as English is a Germanic language anyway, and through the years some of the spellings deviated. An example:
English- milky way
Dutch - milk weg
German- milch weg
I can see where one tribe pronounced milk/milch way/weg a bit differently.
The Spanish originally were a Germanic tribe until they adopted the Romansh version of their language:
English - milk
German- milch
Spanish- leche

The Dutch word for milk is melk. Unless that is the old spelling, I don't know.

Opps sorry, I speak a little dutch but haven't ever had the need to learn to spell it properly. So doesn't this actually illustrate my point a bit more about the historic deviations of the Germanic languages> (melk/milk)?

And there is no such thing as a Milch-Weg in german, the real name is "Milchstraße".

But since Straße means street, this is kinda negligible.

And don't complain because I'm responding only because of this trifle. I mean, whats more appropriate than a german spelling nazi?
