When I turn on the computer, it will POST, but then it will stay on the boot screen forever. The progress bar will keep on moving, but nothing else happens. I went to safe mode with networking and did a system restore. That did not work since it just stays at the boot screen and does nothing else. I then went to safe mode again and defragmented my drives and scanned/removed for spyware and viruses. That still did not work. I did notice that in system restore that "Software Distribution Services 3.0" was at many restore points. Anybody have a solution?
Thanks in advance. |

easiest solution to this, simple registry fix... try RegCure 4.0

Yeah I recommend trying a reg fix and if that doesn't work uninstall everything that was installed right before it stopped working.

My suggestion is CCleaner (didn't tried RegCure), freeware, worked excellent every time for me - download: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/
Also, did you installed/connected any new USB hardware recently or do you maybe have any suspicious USB devices - try to unplug all unnecessary USB devices and see will it boot then. (by unnecessary I mean everything except mouse and keyboard) |

Usually this type of situation is due to some type of malware, corrupted driver/device, issues with deep-rooted software or windows updates. First thing I would try is to find out if any background programs or services are causing an issue. Since you are able to boot into safe mode, try opening the system configuration utility...
Start, Run, msconfig Click selective startup, then uncheck load startup items. Next, click on the Services tab and put a check mark in the 'hide all microsoft services' checkbox then click disable all. When that's done, click OK. You should be prompted to restart the computer, so go ahead and restart. Let it try to boot to normal mode and see what happens. |
