Actually I think he was talking about the effect on people who served or who's family members served and might have been wounded or killed and how they see the war games.

Yeah, I've felt a bit guilty in that aspect sometimes. Been reading lots of articles lately on soldiers who were killed over the past year, and most all were from I.E.D.s, so yeah, sometimes it feels... not disrespectful... but kinda wrong... I dunno, hard to explain...

I would assume that many wouldn't like to see it trivialized in a game but so what, thats what games do.

This is the same as when the whole video scandal about recreating events with the game happened and Wraith showed that vid to his MIL peers and they found it upsetting, which one would assume would be the obvious reaction.

Hating on a game is pointless when real people make real choices that make the suffering and themes for games possible in the first place.

But blaming rap and video games for violence is much easier than adressing the issues that cause the violence in the first place.
I have been "playing war" since I was about 3-4 years old and I have yet to shoot anyone IRL.

WRT the OP: No, not at all. These are modern conflicts and if they help people understand warfare, then they are no different then movies or books. Also, I find it interesting that people are opposed to allowing Insurgents set IEDs in Basrah, but not to Warriors killing insurgents and civilians on Basrah. Not saying that I support the Iraqi Insurgency, just a point.

Reaction to depictions of death for most people are relative to your relation to those being killed.

And............killing civilians is strongly discouraged on Al basrah with ticket and kit penalties.
Not to mention that civis on al Basrah are hardly "innocent" in the game.
