Modeling...

Basically I want to start modeling but I haven't modeled anything ever. So just treat me like a n00b retard who just came from CS and want to model some 1337 weapons for PR itself.

Ok. All that but the CS part.

I need to know the basic of all. What programs do I need? What do I need to do and etc. I'm sure there are pretty good tutorials out there for beginners but I'd be very thankful if you guys could direct me to the softwares I need before starting.

Thanks a lot

Yes, I thought about that but isn't this thread to lame and low quality to be posted in such forum?

I've been using a 30 day Trial for 3DS Max 9 but thats pretty advanced and after the trial it costs a few thousand Personally (instead of using specific tutorials) I have been viewing Lynda essential training (for 3DS Max) which gives complete beginners well, the essentials.

You can try GMax or Maya, good starters.

If you haven't done anything 3d related before you should take a quick look at Leigh's article, A Guide to the Questions that Beginners Always Ask:

The way the thread started I thought some of the answers were going to involve the "cat-walk" and "make love to the camera"

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!
