From throwing controllers at your tv to hitting strangers in the street

I find it quite funny that this sort of gaming is going to come to pocketpc's and mobile phones. We've all seen the pics of broken tv screens from over active Wii users losing control of their controllers. Now most people could probably safely predict people being hit randomly in the street by flying pocketpc's and mobiles that don't have a safety strap attached!!!



Motion-sensing game for mobiles unveiled

US-based mobile content creator Concrete Software has announced the release of a ground-breaking new game that will replicate the Nintendo Wii motion controller on a mobile camera phone.

3D Lawn Darts is based on the outdoor game of lawn darts where players take turns throwing metal darts into the air in an attempt to score points by landing them inside one of two rings.

The video game edition brings Wii-style motion controls to mobile phones by making use of a phone's internal camera, allowing players to swing the phone as if throwing a real dart.

Keith Pichelman, CEO of ConcreteSoftware.com, said: "The mobile device captures a picture in mid-throw and then analyses the blur in the picture to figure out the motion of the dart. To make sure a good picture is taken, the device vibrates to prompt the user when they should make the throwing motion."

He added: "The popularity of motion-enabled gaming as seen on next-generation gaming consoles is now available to the hundreds of millions of camera phones owned by consumers worldwide."

In the UK, 3D Lawn Darts is currently only available on Pocket PCs and Microsoft Smartphones, but Concrete Software is speaking to UK mobile phone carriers and plans to release the mobile camera phone game in the near future.

Had a kid at my school who came to grief with a javelin a couple of years before I started there. After the group threw them and they were going to pick them up, some light hearted jostling kled to one of the lads falling onto a javelin and it going just through and out the rear of him, luckily missing all internal organs!!!!

Mind you, that's nothing compared to the lad firing on an indoor range with .22 rounds in a Lee Enfield who stupidly slipped and bounced a round off a wall and through a door on the side of the range near the end, hitting our CSM who then stormed in through the door at the rear of the range, clutching a bleeding arm and kicked the firer so hard in the groin when he was laid on the firing point that the lad thought he had lost the use of his testicles for life!
