i saw a program one where they dug a lighning out of 500ft deep ice on greenland and that got restored the guns and ammo still worked as the shot a hole through an oil drum.

this is that P38 that was buried in ice.
I don't know about testing the 50's on it although I would think they were cleaned and serviced before they were fired.
