Thumbs up Use your Computer to help find Cures for various Diseases !!!

If any of you would like to help out with using your computer to assist in researching disease like:

* Alzheimer's Disease
* Cancer
* Huntington's Disease
* Osteogenesis Imperfecta
* Parkinson's Disease
* Ribosome & antibiotics

All you need to do is download this small programme and leave it running in the background whenever you can.

Stop it when playing your games

You can help by simply running a piece of software. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project -- people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer makes the project closer to our goals.

Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems thousands to millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.

Since October 1, 2000, over 1,000,000 CPUs throughout the world have participated in Folding@Home. Each additional CPU gives us an added boost in performance, allowing us to tackle more difficult problems or solve existing research faster or more accurately

So if you have the time feel free to download and run this when you can?

And pass the word around

Yes, this is a great project and I have been running the program on and off for years now.
But remember that the graphical version uses Open GL, and as with any Open GL application you cant run two of them simultanously. This means that games using Open GL, like Red Orchestra, will get minimized or stop working completely. Therefore I recommend the console version.

I ran Folding@Home on my PC for a while but I always forgot to turn it back on after use so I got rid of it. I did zombie a few PCs at work though. I work in College IT so I could, theoretically, zombie a thousand machines or so before I get fired. All for the sake of curing disease eh.

Ongoing PR Projects:
Canadian Forces RG-31 Nyala Armored Patrol Vehicle - Status: Importing
Topographical minimaps - Status: Restarted![7/18]

I had that on my computer for years, havent been using it much lately though (if fact i uninstalled it yesturday).

For those wondering and to lazy to read long post, it uses tiny ammount of your CPU's clock so you wont even notice its there but all it does it thousands of mathematical equations and stuff all based on biology blah blah I dont know the proper stuff but you download some data, the thing does a load of work, sends the data back and you could find a cure for cancer, awesome, job done.

You're a noob

not to sound pessimistic or anything, but when we find cures for the worlds diseases what will be done about population control? Euthanisation?

There has only been one answer to that. Short of genocide, the only solution is to inhabit other planets.
