doesnt make sense

can someone please explain to me how sound energy is somehow morphed into heat? and how that heat does not boil the water immediately around where the 'pistol shrimp' shoots?

The sound of gun fire so loud and rapid, but it seems to be so quiet around me.
And out of nowhere I feel peace cover me.
I reach down and reload my ticket home.
The taste of cold steel on my lips, and a second later silence fills the January air.

if you accept that you cannot destroy energy, simply reform it. take the bonds between the molecules in the air weak as they are still containing energy, then shred them with a sonic wave at just the right frequency, each molecule suddenly having its bonds broken, energy is released as light and heat, then quickly dissipated as the molecules reclaim energy to reform bonds.

Okay, first question done, now, how come that superheated air does not cause any damage to the shrimp or its prey (ie. burns) and also, how it doesn't affect the water around it, I mean, that would instantaneously vaporize water around it if it's the temperature of the sun's surface.

If its vaporizes the water, theres millions and millions of gallons to take its place :P

lots of energy, and a bubble made out of practicaly vacume.

so, a bubble of "nothing" takes very little to heat up, and theres considerably more than little energy.

only a tiny tiny amount of matter would be that hot for any perdiod of time, molecules you could count on one hand perhaps..

the air with no molecular bonds is comparable to vacume btw

This "hot as the surface of the sun" thing sounds like total bull crap! How is that possible.

hotness is energy divided by matter.

lots of energy and lots of matter= cool
little energy and little matter =cool
lots of matter and average energy =cold
lots of energy and little matter =hot
all the energy from instantaneous molecular fission and a handful of molecules=hot like the sun

edit: i know that heat is directly related to pressure and the change of state which is denied in the vacume-esque enviroment but guys, lets keep this simple :P

I agree, but we see nothing happen to this amount of water vapourized, no risng air bubbles, no fizz whatsoever.
