Yeah, riding a bike in the rain, snow, -10 or 90+ degree weather on your way to to work is super. Also, many people drive because housing is too expensive or too small in cities. Imagine banning cars. People will be forced to move closer, making the city even more crowded and driving up (pun intended, again) home prices as smaller space is sold at an even higher premium.

Nearly every industrial nation's work force and economy is reliant on cars. What possible good could come from banning them?

If traffic is really that big of a problem, invest in THIS. Problem solved!

Yeah, I enjoy that, makes me feel cooler than all the other pussies that needs a car to feel warm and safe.
Pain is healthy and good for you.

It's called being a man haha and economic and ecological (I think that's the term).

Also I agree with Guerra Norte I love walking 8 miles a day when it's pissing it down.

I don't care anyway, the world is going to be f'd up before I die.

I rock so you don't have to.

Being a man is opening a door for a lady, providing for your family, admitting when you're wrong, and going off to war when your country needs you. Riding a bike in the rain just gets you wet.

If you want pain, get married. (Hope she's not reading this).

Back to the original post, I wonder why world feels the need to limit everything and everyone else that doesn't need limiting?

I am a complete car nut, and even I think this is a good idea. Make sure there are track day cars available, but for everyday cars, who the hell needs to go over 100MPH.
The other thing I always go by, is that the road is not for fun. Castle Combe issue, the M4 corridor, much less. That said, there are roads that were made to drive, like most that climb mountains. Still, since fun roads are extremely technical, and as such, you rarely hit 60 on them, let alone 100.

A good driver is a driver that knows, its not technical skill behind the wheel that makes them good, its the ability to understand that you cannot predict other people and random incidents, such as someone not checking their mirrors, kids running out on the road or people looking at the crash on the motorway - slowing everyone else down. I noticed a lot of people agree with the lack of any need for these upper speeds, so its nice to see there are good drivers here.

Like I said before, we do have this childish need of speed, so keeping track day cars available would be important - We Europeans have motor sport tradition to keep!. BUT ... and this is a big but ... its all spin.

How often do you travel over 100MPH? Its a very small percentage that do, so small, that the extra strain on the engine doesn't account for much of the increase emissions. UK limit it 70, the French is at 80 etc. In reality, how much CO2 will be saved? Cars produce a lot less CO2 and consumers a lot less fuel when plodding alone on the motorway, idling at 2000 RPM in 5th, than in town at 4,000 in 2nd.

So lets face it, its political spin for the G8 announcement. Will it be passed? Not a chance.

Or so you think. I mean, I'm sure even the guy that proposed this wouldn't have if he didn't think it needed limiting.

The difference in opinion isn't in wether things that don't need limiting should be limited, because I think everyone agrees that wouldn't make sense. The difference is in what you think needs limiting.

Aside from that, I can see the guy's point.

Fact of life: A Conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

If they want to reduce C02 emmisions, then instead of getting rid of fast cars that are apparently heavy, why dont they get rid of heavy cars. Way too many people have Range Rovers, Hummers or whatever that weigh many more times the amount a Porsche does.

I say ban 4x4 SUVs unless your a farmer.
