The story behind this one is very interesting.
Apparently the guy on the ground is in the process of holding off an ambush that attacked them. The camera man is trying to help, but the guy on the ground keeps telling him to hold back. There are two other soldiers there that aren't camera men and ready to fight, but they are too afraid to move in. What happens after that is a "hero", or so to speak, shows up and saves the guy on the ground. (there are pics of that too) He comes up along the wall and bursts in guns blazing. He gets injured and gets into a hand to hand fight. They eventually get the insurgent. One of the interesting things about that story was the part when the guy on the ground shoots an insurgent point blank -- about 2-4 rounds and the guy doesnt go down. The writer said that the US M4 Carbine is a weak weapon, and in the heat of the moment, an enemy can simply brush off the wounds 0_o |

Theres your reliable 5.56. No but many insurgens also have been known to overdose on injected adrenaline...

the bullett is still pretty potent though correct? it just has a little more penetrating power than stopping power... i remember them talking about that problem with CAR-15s in BHD.

This is why 9mm is still common for close quarters in law enforcement. It takes you down or at least lets you know you've been hit. Also, quite worryingly, it has better armour penetration than 5.56 (as 5.56 fragments when it hits something).

Still many Military forces have been wanting a .45 instead of the 92FS. The 9mm still ain't quite enough for good stopping power in certain situations.

there probably firing armor penetrating rounds and most insurgents dont have body armor so the rounds go rite thru
9mm is good and theres a reason that MP5's and berratas are used so much but in close quarters nothing beats .45 apc, its got the best stoping power but cause its subsonic it doesnt penetrate |

In WW2 G.I.s getting hit from the MP40 just stood up and continued fighting....The germans hit by the .45 Thompson didn't.
.45 is the best caliber for manstopping. afaik they introduced the .45 because of the natives they encountered during some wars. The .22 cal just didn't keep them from running forward ( + they were filled up with drugs ) |
