Counter-Strike: Source. Why?

Just once in a while, I feel like booting up CS:S for some old school run-and-gun. But it seems to be impossible to find a server that is playing basic, vanilla CS. Every server has some absurd Unreal style mod with annoying voice overs or some other crap. Why is this? Why oh why? Why oh why oh why?

This is the wrong forum.

No one here plays CS, and if they do, they don't belong here.

If you are reading this dont stop, cause if you do, I'll kick you in the balls.

If it weren't for me playing CS for a year, trying hard as a bitch and learning how to keep from getting my ass handed to me by a pack of cheating script kiddies, I never would have discovered how good a player I actually was when Mohaa and BF42 came out.

I'm seriously sorry some of you guys never experienced Quake 3, Team-fortress classic, Counter Strike, and Metal of Honor Allied Assault. A good team death match is like an aerobics workout and the adrenaline rush is priceless.

But hey don't drop the hammer on me yet. PR is the only game I play....although you can find me on a EOD2 or DCon server every so often when I need a rush.

I will admit I have played CSS in the past. I find it to be a frustrating game. With the whole one death per round and fairly lethal weapon selection it can be intense and encourage you to not be stupid. Die early and you sit there for 5 minutes watching. But then with the hitboxes and apparent mixed up accuracey you have people running and jumping while shooting at you. I don't know how many times I would play tacticaly and slowly. I would get the jump on a guy (me crouched and aiming), hit him once or twice in the chest and he would run-jump and auto fire his AK and head shot me The other thing was the huge mix of weapons. Every map was a CQC map but you had people using sniper rifles in hallways!

The game was such a contradiction that it normally just pissed me off and raised my blood pressure. There was the odd time that you played with a good group of guys in more of a realistic SWAT type scenario but it was very rare.

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!

I like CS. Because I take it for what it is. I only play it when I feel the need to dish out some mindless violence on complete strangers or when I'm playing it with a bunch of mates.

Jump in a server, grab a MAC-10, Galil, dualies or M3 Boomstick and go blastin'. Playing slow and tactial is not what CS is about. CS is about surprise, speed and more often that not, volume of fire.

It really depends what I feel like as to what I play. Most of the time PR will win hands down, but sometimes I dont want to have to think about watching for that mine, resupplying my squad's support gun or bleeding out. Sometimes I just want to spray a MAC-10 down a corridor or around a room and get some quick fun kills.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Many thanks to the Forum's no.1 hottie for the sig pretties.

I liked shooting all the chairs to block the doorways on Office so that the CT couldn't get into the room for the hostages... that was fun.
