You don't have to shoot someone with a gun to make it a good defensive weapon. I am sure we all know this, but you wouldn't have had to shoot that robber on his way out.

A few months back, the house across the street from us was broken into. The dad got home just as there was 4 robbers inside the house. First one was downstairs close to where he entered. He fought him for a bit and then the robber ran off. Then he headed upstairs, retrieved his shotgun hidden under a shelf, and found 3 more robbers. They acted like they would resist at first (pulled their knifes out and stood their ground) but he threatened them just once, made them crawl down the stairs on their stomachs as he held them at gun point, and finally called the cops from downstairs. They went to jail, and the 4th one was also found.

America was supplying them with weapons, hardly the best example

Total and complete misrepresentation of the facts. Some Americans of Irish descent were funding them.
I'm a politician ? You completely ignored the point of my statement and then added incorrect facts to the equation.

And i have to look deeper into what you say Armed, because you talk like a politician, you skirt the issue, i talk about guns, you talk about the right to practice a chosen religion, not giving the government power blady blah

I talked about the right to practice a chosen religion ?
So does the child abuse culture and the racism culture and the religious bigotry culture but that simply won't happen
So there is a legitimate fear of the "one world gov" types, the ones that will outlaw fattening foods, the ones that will arrest you for spanking your child, or displaying your religious beliefs or basically anything that they disapprove of.

Those are the only two times I could find where I mentioned religion.
The anti-gun crowd, as i mentioned, contains people who want to run your life.
There are numerous examples of where that same lefty crowd has made religion the boogieman. Many people on the forums regurgitate that notion that religion, in and of itself is bad.
So what I was doing was drawing a larger parallel and I am deeply sorry if it was too complicated for you to follow.

And no, i haven't watched any pro gun videos or read any pro gun literature, because it just over complicates and clouds the whole argument.

So, in other words, you are deliberately arguing from a position of ignorance of the facts.
Why confuse yourself with the facts ....is that what you are saying ?

And by the way, don't take this as an attack on your country, i see you were thinking that way due to the hooligan video, its not funny and our government doesnt support that kind of behavior

That video along with this one [http://video.google.de/videoplay?doc...m%C3%A4r chen ] is what I was talking about.
If firearms were as readily available in the UK as they are here you don't think the hooligans would use them ?

We have the Bloods and the Crips, very similar to the hooligans and they have guns and they kill a lot of innocent bystanders so I don't excuse my country or pretend that we are some kind of peaceful society who only uses guns for recreation and personal defense.

I in no way implied that your government supports that kind of behavior, unlike your bald assertion that America, a nation of some 300 million people supported the IRA.
I did.
I sent money to Nor-AID when I was young and I regret that now because I now know where the money went but my actions don't excuse the abuses of the Special Powers Act anymore than I would excuse the abuse of the "no-knock" warrants that Wasteland was talking about.
But you probably didn't read that link either so you have no idea of what I'm talking about.

To me you typify the many on the left, you feel very strongly about things that you know almost nothing about.
The clip with the representative who's husband was killed by that madman Colin Ferguson is a prime example. She is willing to sponsor and vote for laws that she doesn't even understand, simply because she feels strongly about the subject.
The sad fact is that if Colin Ferguson was unable to get a gun he would have taken a kitchen knife and slashed all those people instead of shooting them.
The same probably applies to Seung-Hui Cho, who clearly wanted notoriety which our whore-like media gave to him.
