It's not a matter of if, but when....
I like that bike but I too have had my share of spills on them and I would rather not be crippled at a young age because of a bike. |

I saw a guy dead as a brick two weekends ago on the street with his bike lying near by. If you keep it strictly off road your own ability is the biggest factor in a spill, on the street however it is usually someone in another car not paying attention who will ruin your life. Out of all the people I personally know who have or had bikes, all have had serious accidents and most were the fault of a careless driver. I don't know how people drive in the UK but here, you are almost certain to have a close call every day.

Yeh, I dont speak for the whole of the UK but round my way lads my age tend to blitz around the streets on crossers (Yz's, Kx's Cr's) with nobblies (off road tyres) you try take a sharp corner on the road with nobblies you come off HARD. Super bikes well i aint never seen a serious crash but i know people who have died at the Isle Of Man TT race

Motorbikes are alright off road where it is your skill that dictates your continuing existence, but on the road todays traffic is so appalling in the UK I wouldn't ride anything more than a honda mbx 80lc anymore. Small enough that you can just slam your boot into the ground and save yourself from the worst of spills, doesn't go too fast so you might survive most of the crashes you do have, fast enough accelleration that you can move yourself in traffic as needed.
That said, even wearing a full face helmet, a 25mph faceplant offroad while riding downhill mountain bikes has left me brain damaged. I'm getting older and I'm not getting scared, just practical. |
