Choppers have a sonic boom?
What is the one major thing limiting helicopter top speeds? (hint: it has to do with the rotor blades) |

Nobody!
Sorry, just read Black bird as Black hawk. The SR-71 does have a sonic boom watching The Island on crappy quality and reading the boards (badly) when it gets unbearable (stretched out on a 24") |

Who wants to learn about why the SR-71 is called the SR-71?
It WAS called the SR-17, but the president called it an SR-71 in a public speech, and to make sure no one thought the president made a mistake, they called it the SR-71! /OT. |

About 9 or 10 years ago when I was wee in school, the cadets had a field day. A Chinook came to pick them up and landed in one of the playing fields! My memory is a bit vague as it was a long time ago, so I may have forgotten which chopper it was, it was still amazing!
I have also seen a few military transports fly over Bristol where I am now, no idea what though, my heli knowledge is limited. |

I think some of you are exaggerating the altitude of the helicopters you've seen. Twenty feet above a residential area?
